“When I was a kid I used to hide behind the curtains at home at Christmas and I used to try and be Elvis. There was a certain ambience between the curtains and the French windows, there was a certain sound there for a ten-year-old. That was all the ambience I got at ten years old… I think! And I always wanted to be a curtain, a bit similar to that.” – Robert Plant
Hands-down, Led Zeppelin was one of my favorite bands beginning in my teenage years. Even today, they still sound fresh, and no one can come close to attaining that Golden God status that Robert Plant personifies.
He is always the visionary doing his own thing, whether it happened to be Led Zeppelin, The Honey Drippers, Page and Plant, orswitching gears over to country and blue grass with Alison Krauss.
One of my favorite songs, That’s the Way, was used in the the scene after the bus crashed though the gate in the film Almost Famous with Kate Hudson, Patrick Fugit and Billy Crudup. The perfect song for this poignant scene!
Happy 66th Birthday Mr. Robert Plant! May you have many more and keep turning on the new generations with your music!
