Who Knew That Scientists are the New Rock Gods?

“She blinded me with science…and hit me with technology.”
Thomas Dolby

Way back in the day when I was in high school (no years given please), the uniform was concert shirts. Either the black or baseball-style variety. I had so many that I could go for a month without wearing the same shirt twice. Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Lynyrd Skynrd, Ozzy Osbourne…you name it, I had it.

My, how things have changed. Scientists are the nerd rock stars of technology, and are finally getting their due props with these t-shirt designs by Amorphia Apparel in their Monsters of Grok line.

This collection has proven to be so successful that they have now branched out to include Amorphia Apparel’s Badass Women of Science!

Marie Curie was seriously metal: She dedicated her life to the study of radioactivity (a term she herself coined), becoming the first woman to win a Nobel prize (and the only woman to ever win Nobels in two different fields), discovered the radioactive elements of Radium and Polonium, was scandalized by a torrid love affair, built and manned mobile radiology labs for WWI, and died from complications brought on by her long term radiation exposure. And that's just scratching the surface of her accomplishments. t-shirt from Monsters of GrokOnce upon a time we didn't know how far away everything in space was. Without a means of measuring the distance to far away stars there was no way to be sure: Enter Henrietta Swan Leavitt! She discovered that a class of variable stars have an inherent brightness in a ratio to how long it takes to go through their variable cycle. So if we can find two of these stars and compare their brightness and period we can compare the relative distance between to two! Though cock-blocked of recognition in her day, her work is what allowed us to finally measure great distances in space, and eventually led Hubble to determine that the universe is expanding. tee shirt from Monsters of Grok

Haven’t you heard? All the cool kids may love sports and partying, but all the cool adults love science and tech and go on to become wealthy engineers that will eventually rule the earth. Which one do you want to be?

Party on Wayne! Party on, Garth!
